Recently The Human Rights League of the Horn of Africa (HRLHA) has published a new urgent action in reference to detained students. The HRLHA emphasizes that Oromo students are among the prime targets of attacks of the Ethiopian TPLF/EPRDF regime when it comes down to ethnicity and regional lines.

The published HRLHA document says that “[t]he most recent crackdown against Oromo students, which has been going on since April 14, 2011, has hit all universities and colleges in different regional states, and has sent hundreds students to prison without any idea as to when they would be released.”  All in all there is an increasing number of detained students.

Therefore OMRHO e.V. and the HRLHA calls up on the Ethiopian Government to immediately stop racial and discriminatory violence and unconditionally release the detained students.
